Positioning changes what a weapon hits
Astartes Chainsword makes horizontal attacks, Grandblade develops a circular swing, and Rope and Grapnel brings hooks from random screen edges. Lasgun targets the nearest enemy. These descriptions help you identify coverage; they do not establish a universal best weapon.
Movement-sensitive axes
Fyrestorm Greataxe changes swing direction as you move, stops after a damage threshold and loses damage while idle. Its evolved Zangrom-Thaz continues swinging even when you stop and speeds up while moving. The evolved form therefore changes how you can hold a position, not just the weapon name.
Fire, oil and cross-universe equipment
Nuln Oil applies Oiled, slowing enemies and increasing their vulnerability to fire damage. Use it alongside Burning damage when the combination appears in your run. Nuln Oil and D6 Dice are shared across the two universes. D6 Dice bounce and explode, with damage tied to the rolled face.
Read an evolution as a behavior change
Evolving Power Fists summons Marneus Calgar carrying Gauntlets of Ultramar, with bolter rounds accompanying his attacks. Whirlwind Battery becomes Orbital Bombardment, raining down voidship fire. Fidelis gains missile salvos as Purgator Mirabilis. Rope and Grapnel becomes Ghost of Rhea, sending a ghost across the battlefield into a burst of damaging fog.
